As Vice President for Leasing, Courtney Lord manages leasing staff for Whitman Family Development, LLC. He develops budgets, designs leasing strategies, and leads negotiations with tenants.

With more than four decades of experience in retail leasing management, Lord’s broad expertise ensures that Whitman Family Development properties continue to fulfill the company’s enduring mission, satisfying customers through a winning combination of outstanding merchants, uncompromising service, extraordinary sales performance, and a unique and inviting physical environment.

The many commercial developments in Florida for which Lord was responsible include Dolphin Mall, Miami; Sawgrass Mills, Sunrise; Wellington Green, Palm Beach; International Plaza, Tampa; and Millenia, Orlando.

He also held leading roles in a range of commercial real estate developments throughout the United States – in Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Washington State, as well as in Florida.

In Aspen, Colorado, Lord was the principal in a redevelopment project that preserved historic movie theaters, and he managed retail leasing strategy for the $2 billion development of Snowmass Village.

Throughout the 1990s, Lord’s company — Lord Associates, Inc. — specialized in retail development, until it was purchased by The Taubman Company, a publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) based in Michigan. In his employment at Taubman, Lord managed the retail-leasing portfolio and the leasing department. He also initiated the company’s entry into the Asian market.

Subsequent to Taubman, Lord’s consultancy clients have included Related Companies, TurnberryAssociates, and The Howard Group.

Lord is a native of New York City and attended American University in Washington, D.C.

He and his wife, Karen, live in Miami Beach and Aspen. The couple has two grown children.

Lord’s hobbies include golf, snow skiing, cycling, collecting contemporary art and travel.
